Woosh on your phone 📱

The Android and iOS apps are in early access, and we're letting people in now.

• Android arrives through Google Play and iOS through TestFlight, so it has to be the Google or Apple address that phone signs in with.
• We add you by hand, usually within a day.
• Same account, same servers, same voice channels. Nothing to move over.

Stream audio stopped echoing 🔊

Sharing your screen with audio in the browser was picking up Woosh too, so everyone watching heard themselves come back. Deafening was the only way around it, and that killed your mic.

Woosh is cut out of the audio you share now.

Group calls 🎉

Calls aren't capped at two anymore. Hit the new add people button in a call, or right-click any friend, and they get rung in.

Adding someone to a 1:1 call turns it into a group on the spot. Everyone moves over together, and your mic, camera and screen share come along.

Groups live with your DMs 💬

Every group call gets a group chat, right in your conversation list.

• Name it whatever you like by clicking the name at the top of the chat. Leave it empty and it goes back to showing who's in it.
• Done with one? Right-click, leave, gone.

Streams that break now fix themselves 🩹

The rebuild held up. This release cleans up what the first day of reports showed us.

• A stream that won't open retries on its own. If it really can't play, the tile says why instead of going black.
• Dead shares on AMD and Intel machines restart themselves on a codec that works.
• Leaving voice is instant. No more hanging on the way out.
• Sharing with nobody watching barely costs anything now.
• Browser shares start at a quality your connection can hold, then climb.

We rebuilt the stream pipeline 🔧

Streams have been freezing for some of you. This release goes straight at that.

• Fixed a freeze when someone opens your stream.
• Fixed random freezes on static screens.
• Lost packets get resent fast, so hiccups stay tiny.
• Struggling viewers get a lighter stream instead of a frozen one.
• Stream traffic is encrypted now.

A server in Brazil 🇧🇷

Voice and screen share now run from São Paulo for anyone in South America. Before this, every call went to Germany and back. That was about 200ms of extra delay on every packet.

• Talking over each other actually works now.
• Fewer freezes on screen shares. When a packet goes missing, the fix happens nearby instead of across the Atlantic.
• Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and the rest of the continent route there too.

Nothing to switch on. Woosh picks the nearest server from your timezone.

Browser streams handle a bad connection 📶

Sharing your screen from the browser now adapts to your connection. When it gets tight the stream drops to 1080p, then 720p, then lower, instead of freezing. When the connection recovers it climbs back up. Nothing to configure.

• Resolution drops before framerate does.
• It climbs back to full quality once the connection holds.
• On a shaky connection it settles at a level it can hold instead of bouncing around.

AV1, when your GPU can 🎞️

On Auto, browser shares pick AV1 if your GPU can encode it. Sharper at the same bitrate. Everyone else stays on H264.

Small things

• The feedback megaphone is a real button now. You'll find it.
• On phones it moved up next to the inbox, where your eyes already are.
• Picking a feedback category drops you straight into the text box.

There's a megaphone next to the version number now. Click it, type, send.

• Four kinds: idea, bug, praise, other. The box asks a different question for each.
• Your build and platform get attached automatically.

Inbox 📥

There's an inbox in the sidebar now. It collects missed calls and mentions while you're away.

• A call only lands here if it went unanswered. Pick up or decline and it doesn't show up.
• Mentions clear themselves the moment you read the channel. Everything else stays until you dismiss it.
• Synced across devices. Read it on one and the badge drops everywhere.

clips.woosh.no 🔗

Sharing a clip now gives you a clips.woosh.no link instead of a raw storage URL. It opens a real page with a player, the title, and who clipped it.

• Paste one into Discord and it unfurls as a playable video, right in chat.
• Plays in any browser. No account, no app, no download.
• Rename a clip as much as you like. Links you already sent keep working.

Clips 🎬

Someone does something unforgivable on stream? Hit Clip. Woosh keeps the last 30 seconds of every stream you watch, so the moment is already saved by the time you react.

Everything you grab lands in Settings → Clips, sorted by the game you were in.

• Works on streams you watch, and on your own stream while you share.
• Voice chat is in the clip. The screaming is usually the best part.
• Set a keybind in Settings → Clips and clip from inside the game. No tabbing out.

Cut the boring part ✂️

Every clip opens in a small editor first. Drag the handles until only the good part is left, then save.

• Space plays your selection, on repeat, so you can nail the cut.
• Trimming happens on your machine and doesn't re-encode. Saving a 10 second clip takes as long as uploading one.

Send it 🔗

Saving uploads the clip and hands you a link. It plays in any browser, no Woosh account needed.

Smoother streaming 🎮

Big round of work on the streaming pipeline. Streams are noticeably smoother, and a bad connection doesn't wreck them anymore.

• Frames are timestamped when they're captured, so a laggy game no longer makes the stream stutter on top of it.
• The stream watches for network delay instead of waiting for packet loss, and lowers quality before things freeze.
• Frame rates are layered now. If a viewer's connection can't keep up, they drop to 30fps for a bit while everyone else stays at 60.
• Much faster recovery after a connection drop.

Woosh is on Android 📱

The Android app is out on Google Play. It's the full app: chat, voice, calls, push notifications. It opens where you left off, and messages you send while offline go out once you're back online.

Other fixes

• Alt+←/→ and mouse back/forward buttons now move through your channel history.
• The emoji picker shows your most used emojis first, and the standard set grew to ~360 with search.
• You can see who's in voice from the top bar. Mic icon on the server tab, hover for the full list.
• Fixed fullscreen staying on top of other windows after tabbing out.
• Fixed notifications silently breaking on some Windows machines.

Import from Discord 🚀

Move your whole community over in one command. Add the Woosh bot to Discord and run /copy. Woosh rebuilds the server here and hands you a link to invite everyone.

Everything comes across:

• Run /copy in any channel. You need Manage Server. The bot posts the invite.
• First person to join becomes the owner. You can hand it off later in Server Settings.

Search 🔍

You can finally find that one message. Hit Ctrl + F and type a few letters. Woosh searches the server you're in, or the DM you're reading, the moment you stop typing.

How it works

• Partial words count. Type meet and you'll find meeting, meetup, and let's meet. No need to remember the exact phrase.
• It knows where you are. Inside a server, it searches every text channel. Inside a DM, just that conversation. The placeholder tells you which.
• Thread replies are included. They show up tagged so you know the hit is inside a thread.
• Pure keyboard. ↑ ↓ to move, Enter to open, Esc to bail. Your matched words are highlighted in every result.
• In the desktop app it's Ctrl + F. On the web it's Ctrl + Shift + F, so your browser keeps its own find-in-page.

Jump straight to the message

Picking a result doesn't just drop you in the channel and leave you scrolling. Woosh loads the history around that message, scrolls to it, and flashes it so you don't lose it.

• Land on a message from months ago and Woosh pulls in the history around it. Scroll up or down from there like normal.
• Replies jump too. Click the quoted line above a reply to go up to the original. Scroll back down and you're where you left off.
• Thread hits open the thread. If your search match lives in a thread, Woosh opens it and flashes the exact reply inside.

Server Roles 🎨

Servers can hand out roles now. Create one, give it a color, assign it. Names get colored in chat and the member list, hoisted roles get their own section, and permissions decide who can do what.

Hand them out from the profile card

No new modal, no separate admin screen. Click a member and their roles show up as chips under their activity. Hover one to remove it, or hit + Add role.

Set them up in server settings

• Right-click your server icon in the sidebar and pick Settings. There's a new Roles tab.
• Type a name in the top row, click the colored dot to pick a color, hit Create. Done.
• Click any role to expand it: rename, pick a different color, toggle which permissions it grants, mark it as Display separately if you want its members hoisted in the member list.
• Drag and drop roles to reorder them. Higher means more authority.

What the permissions actually do

• Manage Channels. Create, rename and delete any channel.
• Manage Roles. Create, edit, reorder and delete roles, and assign them. You can only touch roles below your own top role.
• Manage Emojis. Upload and delete server emojis.
• Kick Members. Remove people from the server. Their top role has to be below yours.
• Manage Messages. Delete any message or thread reply, not just your own.
• Move Voice Members. Drag people between voice channels and disconnect them.
• Administrator. Everything above, plus anything we add later. Deleting the server stays owner-only.

The bit that prevents people from promoting themselves

• You can only manage roles whose position is strictly below your own highest role. So a Mod can never edit Admin, and can never give themselves an Admin role.
• Same applies to kicks: the target's top role must be below yours.
• The owner sits above all of it. Every role is below them, and only they can delete the server.
• @everyone is the baseline role everyone has. You can edit its permissions, but not its name or position, and you can't delete it.

Show 'em what you're spinning 🎧

Woosh can put what you're listening to on your profile. Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Tidal, foobar2000. Off by default, opt in from Settings. We deliberately don't read from browsers, so a stray YouTube tab or a guilty Pornhub session is never going to leak into the member list. Promise.

How to turn it on

• Click your avatar in the bottom-left, hit Settings, jump to the General tab.
• Flip Share what you're listening to. Your current track shows up under your name within a couple of seconds.
• Toggle it back off any time. Whatever was being broadcast clears instantly for everyone.

The privacy contract

• Off by default. Nothing is read or sent until you flip the toggle yourself.
• Allowlist only. Five music apps: Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Tidal, foobar2000. Adding more is a one-line change. We went strict.
• No browsers. Windows can't tell music.youtube.com apart from any other YouTube tab at the system-media-controls layer, so every browser session is excluded outright. No exceptions.
• Nothing stored. Your current track lives in volatile memory only. It clears the moment you go offline, log out, or toggle the feature off. Nothing hits a database, nothing ends up in logs.
• Paused = quiet. If music is paused, nothing is broadcast.

Under the hood

• The Rust side reads Windows' System Media Transport Controls (SMTC), reacts to source-app changes and track changes in real time, and pushes updates over our existing SignalR connection.
• Heartbeat every 30 seconds as a safety net. If Windows is being weird you're at most half a minute behind.
• If you have Spotify playing in the background and bring up a YouTube tab, the broadcast stays on Spotify. We only switch when the new source is also on the allowlist.

Boot Straight Into the Lobby 🎮

Woosh can now spin up the moment your PC does. Boot → desktop → already in the VC with your crew. No more "be there in a sec, gotta open Woosh" while the squad waits.

Where to flip it

• Click your avatar in the bottom-left and hit Settings.
• There's a new General tab between Profile and Audio.
• Flick Launch Woosh on system startup on. Kicks in next reboot.

The fine print

• Windows only. Browser players don't need it.
• No stealth mode yet. The window opens like normal on boot. Ask in the feedback channel if you want a tray-only launch.

Favorite Server ⭐

Pick one server as your default. It pins to the top of your sidebar, and Woosh opens there next time.

• Right-click any server icon in the sidebar and pick Set as default. A small star appears in the corner of its icon.
• It stays pinned at the top no matter where your drag order had it.
• Opening Woosh drops you into its first text channel instead of the empty home screen.
• Channel links and invites still win. Those go where they point.
• Right-click again and pick Unset as default to undo it.

Download Toast 📥

Saving a file used to happen in silence. Now a toast shows up bottom-right with the file name and a button to go find it.

• It goes away after a few seconds, or hit the × sooner.
• On desktop the button opens your Downloads folder.
• In the browser it opens the file.

Custom Sections 🗂️

The fixed Text channels / Voice channels split is gone. You build your own sections now. Mix text and voice in one section, or leave a channel loose at the top with no section at all.

What admins can do

• Create a section from the + button next to Channels, or right-click empty sidebar space.
• Drag channels anywhere. Into a section, out of one, or up to the top of the list.
• Drag sections to reorder them. The whole header is the handle. Clicking still collapses it.
• Right-click a section to add a channel inside it, rename it, or delete it. Deleting keeps the channels. They fall back to where the section was.

What everyone gets

• Collapse sections with the chevron. That's stored on your device, so collapsing on your laptop won't fold it for anyone else.
• When an admin moves something around, everyone sees it right away.

Untouched servers show channels in creation order with no sections. Drag them around or hit + to sort it out.

The Throne 👑

Server ownership isn't forever anymore. Members vote on who rules, and the crown changes hands on a schedule the owner sets.

When voting closes, whoever got the most votes is crowned. Everyone online sees the coronation:

How it works

• Owners turn it on in Server Settings → Throne 👑 and set the cycle length and voting window.
• When voting opens, everyone gets told. Full-screen if you're in the server, a toast if you're not.
• One vote each. You can change it until the window closes.
• Most votes wins the server.
• Ties go to the current ruler.
• Missed it? Open the app and it catches you up.

Emoji Reactions

You can react to any message with an emoji. Hover a message, hit the smiley in the action bar, pick one. Reactions show up as pills under the message and stack as more people pile on. Click a pill to add or remove yours.

Works in channels, DMs and threads. Hover a pill to see who reacted.

Profile Banners

Your profile has a custom banner now. Upload an image or pick a solid color. It shows above your avatar when someone opens your profile.

Open Settings → Profile and hit Edit banner above your preview card.

Images get cropped to 4:1 and optimized on upload. Clear it to go back to the accent gradient.

Threads

Messages can have their own thread now. Click the reply count on a message, or right-click and pick Open Thread. Side conversations stay out of the main chat.

The thread panel sits on the right and keeps its own scrollback. Nothing lands in the main channel except the reply count.

Reply to a Message

You can quote-reply to any message. Right-click and pick Reply, or hover and hit the reply button. A banner shows up in your input box with what you're replying to.

The "Replying to" bar sits above your input until you send or hit Esc . The quote stays visible in the sent message.

Pick Your Theme

New Theme tab in Settings. Five accent colors, five backgrounds, mix them however you want.

Your pick is saved and sticks around. It's in Settings → Theme.

Custom Banner Color

Don't want the default gradient? Pick any color for your banner with the new picker in the Profile tab.

Hit Edit on your banner in Settings → Profile. Type a hex value or drag the color wheel. The preview updates as you go.

Invite to Voice Chat

You can pull anyone into your voice channel with a right-click.

They get a toast in the bottom-right showing the server, the channel, and who's already in it. Join drops them in. If they're not in the server yet, they get added first.

Right-click any of these

• A member in the server member list
• A conversation in the DM list
• A friend in the Friends tab
• A message author's avatar or name in chat

The option only shows up when you're already in a voice channel.

Drag Users Between Voice Channels

Server admins can drag any voice participant, themselves included, into another voice channel. No disconnecting and rejoining.

Grab anyone from the sidebar and drop them on another voice channel. The target lights up when you can drop there.

Pick a banner color and a profile color in settings.

You can favourite GIFs other people send. Hover a GIF and hit the star.

Better Contrast

Text and icons are easier to read across the app.

Media in Chat

Video and audio play in the message instead of sitting there as a link you have to open somewhere else.

• Video gets a player with a scrubber.
• Audio files get play, pause and a seek bar.
• GIFs load properly instead of being treated as ordinary images.

Back and Forward

Every channel and DM has its own address now. Reloading puts you back where you were instead of dumping you at the top.

Your mouse's back and forward buttons move through the channels you've been in. It only walks your own history inside the app, so you can't accidentally back your way out to the login screen.

AV1 Screen Sharing

The desktop app can encode your screen share as AV1 when your GPU knows how. Same bitrate, sharper picture, and it shows most on text and menus.

The screen picker has a codec setting: Auto, AV1 or H264. Auto is right for most people.

There's also a 6 Mbps option in the bitrate list now, for connections that couldn't hold 8.

A New Look

The interface was rebuilt on one shared set of components. Buttons, inputs, modals, menus and avatars finally match each other instead of each being slightly its own thing.

Accent Colors

Five accents to pick from: pink, blue, green, purple and orange. Whatever you pick paints the highlights across the app.

Custom Emoji

Servers can upload their own emoji. Add them in server settings and they turn up in the picker for everyone in that server.

Server settings got a real home, with renaming, the server icon, emoji, and deleting the whole thing if it has run its course.

Woosh on Android

There's an Android build. Same account, same servers, same chat.

It knows it's on a phone and lays itself out accordingly instead of shrinking the desktop app down.

Notifications

Woosh can tell you when something happens while you're looking at something else. Desktop notifications for messages, and a sound when someone starts sharing their screen.

GIFs

There's a GIF picker in the message box. Search, click, send.

Password Reset

There's a forgot password link on the login screen. It emails you a reset link.

Minimize to Tray

Closing the window used to quit Woosh. Now it drops to the system tray and keeps running, so you stay in voice.

Click the tray icon to bring the window back. Quit is in the tray menu.

Bigger Streams

Click someone's stream and it takes over the voice panel. Click it again to put it back.

Fullscreen has its own controls in the bottom corner now instead of borrowing the header, so nothing sits on top of what you're watching.

The First Build

Woosh is out. Servers with text and voice channels, direct messages, friends, and screen sharing.

• Make a server, add channels, hand out an invite link.
• Voice channels work like a room. You drop in, people are already there, you leave when you want. Nobody has to answer a call.
• Share your screen to everyone in the channel.
• Direct messages and friend requests.
• Unread markers, so you can see what you missed while you were gone.
• The desktop app updates itself. A banner shows up when there's a new build.
